A gearbox redesign project to integrate a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) in the 2025 Ecocar vehicle. The primary objective is to reduce the vehicle´s net energy consumption, a critical metric in the Shell Eco-Marathon competition. Converting the kinetic
energy from braking into electrical energy using a generator, the system aims to recharge the battery to power electrical components and re-accelerate the car, therefore, improving
energy efficiency.
